Shaffer's Third Annual Trunk or Treat

Hey friends, Savanna here! On Saturday, we had our THIRD Annual Trunk or Treat at Shaffer Funeral Home {side note for those that aren't aware: I'm also a funeral director ;) }. It was such an incredible evening with so many high points, and I'm feeling so blessed to have been a part of it! We've ironed out many of the kinks from the previous two years, and I've got some great ways to make next year's event even better! On that note, mark your calendars for OCTOBER 26, 2024 from 5:30-8:30 PM....we're already working on next year's event!

This event would not have been possible without the help of our trunk hosts who show up rain or shine (or late October heat waves) to put smiles on the faces and sugar in the tummies of all of our little guests! We are truly thankful for your generosity and willingness to hang out for an evening of spooktacular fun! Also, thank you to our contributors that were not able to attend, but who generously shared goodies to make this event extra special for our visitors; Beth & John Zeilor, Joan Lambert, Valley Health, and P&P Creations.

We're also so grateful for our neighbors and friends at the American Legion Post 91 and The White House on Main Boutique who graciously shared their space with us to make this event even bigger and better than ever!

Then there are our AMAZING volunteers. A personal thank you to Dee Dee Mulledy, Amy Haines, Linda Corbin, Eileen Johnson, Heidi Fabbri, Barb Scott, Brittany Cunningham, Robin Smith, Logan, Dylan, Caiden, Crystal Mayfield, Hailey Cunningham and her crew of ladies, Brenda Ganoe, and Debbie Method. We'd also like to thank the Town of Romney for the safety equipment, and the Romney Police Department and Hampshire County Sheriff's Office for their part in ensuring the safety of our guests both at the crosswalk and throughout the event.

Lastly, a GINORMOUS (it's a real word, I checked) THANK YOU to all of our guests. We started this event with the hopes that our littlest visitors would have happy memories of visiting the funeral home grounds so that when they had to come for the hard stuff, it might be just a little easier. It was also my vision when I came to Shaffers that my outreach to the community would be in the form of connecting with families. Trunk or Treat is all about welcoming our friends and neighbors to have a little fun, and I think (and I hope) that we're accomplishing this each year!

This year, we received raffle donations from Spring Valley Farm & Market, Beth & John Zeilor, the Romney Housing Authority, The Hampshire Review, and Triple S Auto. Thank you for contributing! Our winners are:

*Some photos were taken with a cell phone and do not reflect professional quality standards. What can I say, they evening goes nuts and things fall to the wayside in the midst of all the fun! Also, I realize that I didn't get a photo of our friends from the Romney Brew Station!!! I hope you were able to grab some yummy beverages as you waited in line! Thanks, RBS!
