Last Minute Engagement Sesh

Sean and Megan reached out to me a couple weeks ago in a bit of a pickle...with their wedding fast approaching, their scheduled engagement portraits with their wedding photographer had fallen through. They needed to knock these out and fast. Naturally, it was not difficult for me to say no to them (they are our friends, of course), and I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't excited to capture that soon-to-be-married LOVE.
I've always considered myself a maternity, baby, and family portrait photographer. I got my start in the birth room capturing the real, raw moments of baby's first breath...that moment when two people start their family. It was a natural progression to capture glowing mommas, teeny newborns, baby's first year, and all the growth that families do over the course of a childhood (or two or three). My whole creative perspective is centered around LOVE.
I. Love. It. To this day, I would 100% choose those moments of capture over taking school photos, headshots, team portraits, real estate photos, and even events (though I have happily done all of those and still continue to do so here and there).
Over the years, I've also captured a few weddings, however I decided long ago that THAT was not ever going to be my niche. While I love the emotion of it all, I've never been into the stress of a timeline, the potential for missed shots you didn't even know you needed, or the MASSIVE amount of images that need to be culled and edited (I edit by hand, remember...not always efficient, but it ensures consistency and it's what I know).
As my children have started to get older, I've noticed a draw to the beginning of that family life cycle...couples. My babies aren't babies anymore, so I have more availability to travel and explore. Now, I'm not saying I'm ever going to become a wedding photographer exclusively, but send me a pair that wants to elope, or one that wants an intimate destination wedding, and I'd be 1000% on board.
Anyways, those are just my musings on the topic. If you plan to run away and get married on the DL...call me. A courthouse wedding...call me. An exotic island wedding or mountain escape...call me! I'd love to capture your love, and the first branches of your family's tree!
