Shaffer’s Fourth Annual Trunk or Treat

Where do I even begin!? As many of you know, I'm also a funeral director at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney. When I joined the team at Shaffer's, I knew I wanted part of my focus to be on ensuring the funeral home was a place where kids would feel welcome during their sorrow. The best way to do this in my mind was to make sure they had happy memories there.

When we lived in Florida, our church put on an amazing trunk or treat event year after year. This was the inspiration for Shaffer's Trunk or Treat. This community event has grown so much in four years and we have learned SO MUCH! We have enjoyed seeing the children in our community show up in force, with smiles and laughter that could warm even the grinchiest heart!

This Saturday, we welcomed over 1600 people onto the lots at Shaffer's, the American Legion, and The White House on Main. We saw ghosts, pirates, princesses, lots of superheroes, and so many more wonderful costumes. Everyone was in good spirits, and so polite! Parents, well done!

We thank you so much for coming out for a fourth year. It was a whirwind! To our trunk hosts, I've said it year after year, but you guys are INCREDIBLE. The effort, time, energy, and money that goes into your trunks does not go unnoticed! AMAZING JOB to all of you! This year, we had 55 hosts, and every single one of them showed up big for the kids in our community! Hats off to you! Special thanks to PnP Creations for another festive balloon arch, and American Legion Post 91 and The White House on Main for sharing your spaces with us!
